The secret is out.

Gujarati Rasoi - Brilliant.

Mother and son Lalita and Urvesh work together celebrating their love for Gujarati food from Surat, made the only way they know it, made with love. Having been taught to cook by her mother, my grandmother left the region of Surat in Gujarat, India with my grandfather in the 1940’s.

As with many people who leave the country of their origin, my grandparents held onto the culture of that time; religion, language, family values and food. This culture was passed onto the next generation and in a similar fashion to the next, bringing culture from the 1900’s to the present day.  Integral to this cultural time capsule is food.

Foremost the food must taste of home, this nostalgia for the pre industrialised rural Gujarat of the 1900's is the key to why the food tastes as it does, its why the recipes and methods have not changed. My mother and I make all our food using traditional methods, techniques and whole ingredients. Our food is made with great care and attention to detail, we ensuring that everything we make reflect our very high standards.

The manufacture is slow, no compromise is made to speed things up, we pride ourselves on our method, it is this method that makes everything taste so good!

What you experience is the taste of traditional Indian home cooking, as my great grand mother would have made it. The directors at Cleaner Products have been using Gujarati Rasoi sauces in their home cooking for many years, they are unique and nothing come close to the quality. Lalita and Urvesh make their traditional curry sauces in their factory in London’s Waterloo district and have opened their first restaurant in Dalston, London, Gujarati Rasoi are also favourites on the London street scene at Borough and Broadway markets.

What the crisis say!

The dishes' names and ingredients are lyrical and thrillingly alien, and half the time you've no idea what they are; but you do know you're going to be fighting over the last scraps'  Marina O'Loughlin, The Guardian

Traditional vegetarian Indian food, done Dalston style.  What’s not to like? Erm, not a lot.. Zoe Williams, The Telegraph
