Cleaner Products are always keen to work with new ventures and are delighted to welcome the latest US operator to the UK shores, Eggslut started life as a Californian street food business by founder Alvin Cailan back in 2011, the concept proved a such a big hit with trendy locals that Cailan opened his first permanent site in 2013 inside LA’s Grand Central Market, since then they Eggslut team have opened another four sites in the US and have also expanded their operation in the Middle East.
The term Eggslut is used by American chefs to describe someone who always says ‘add an egg to it’ when their cooking, the Eggslut menu which primarily features a selection of premium egg based sandwiches served in brioche buns and the star of the show is the gaucho sandwich - with seared wagyu tri-tip steak over a medium egg with chimichurri sauce, delicious! The menu’s signature dish, meanwhile, is the Slut, which features a coddled egg on top of potato puree, poached in a glass jar and served with baguette slices.
The name Eggslut has raised a few eyebrows in the UK with accusations that it could be perceived as misogynistic or derogatory, but that is nothing compared to reaction the brand received in Kuwait, but the brand owners are adamant that the name will remain and the venture will flourish.
