We were recently asked by our valued client ‘ The Reform Club” in London’s Pall Mall to inspect their mosaic floor which had a linoleum surface removed and left the floor heavily soiled and they had tried everything to bring the floor back to an acceptable level without sucess. The floor is reminiscent of an Italian courtyard and in the centre is a multi-coloured mosaic pavement bearing an Etruscan design.
Nathan Reilly our managing director was in conversation with Martins the head housekeeper regarding the difficult areas to clean within the building and the subject of the floor came up, Nathan simply said that he thought he could offer some assistance, Jason Lenehan who is the ‘Head of buildings’ asked our managing director Nathan Reilly if he could come into to perform some tests on the floor, it is a grade 1 listed building and the floor is registered with ‘English Heritage’. It was of the utmost importance that the solution and method we provided did not harm the floor.
Nathan then armed himself with a number of the products that had been designed in collaboration with our chemical engineer Daemon Kane, he proceeded to apply different formulas to the heavily soiled floor, using the least aggressive ones first and moving up the active ingredient scale and eureka, it was the forth option that worked a treat, the tricky element to the floor was the different colours as potentially each tile may react differently, Nathan performed tests on each of the colours and found the products and system best suited to the job and he was pleased with his trial, Nathan then shared his experience with Jason Lenehan who was delighted with the result. The chemical used was a product we have had in the developement stages and the performance of the chemical was highly effective, the chemical has been branded as ‘Floor-Retore’ and will form part of our ‘Floorcare Range’ of products.
The next step was to clean the whole floor, Nathan suggeted bringing in one of our 'trusted partners' a London company called Artek Group who have a great deal of experience with this type of project, Mark Ferrznolo one of the directors of Artek completed a sample section of the floor for Jason’s approval. Mark then seconded his best team and they worked all over a weekend to complete the deep clean, no machines were used in the process, it was all completed with great care by hand. Mark commented that it was tough going for my team on their hands and knees but the product Cleaner Products designed for the task was unbelievable.
We had a call at the Cleaner Products office this morning to say thank you our floor looks absolutly amazing. The Reform Club in Pall Mall is one of the finest Victorian buildings in the country, a palatial masterpiece by Sir Charles Barry that has remained largely unchanged since it was completed in 1841, the building has been used in many films including the classic James Bond films “Die another Day” and “Quantum of Solace”
