Grillardin charcoal products have now been authorised as suitable fuel in accordance with section 20 of the Clean Air Act 1993. 

Our clients already know how committed we are to developing products that meet the highest standards while actively improving the sustainability of their operations so we are pleased to announce the authorisation that reinforces that commitment.

The recent product analysis was carried out by KIWA, one of the UK’s leading national certification bodies and they confirmed that our charcoal is among the cleanest fuels they have ever tested in terms of sulphur content, even more impressively was that the average heat output was significantly higher than standard alternatives. This robust data will help us support meaningful improvements to both UK and EU fuel standards. KIWA have over 12,000 employees worldwide and a 500-strong team in the UK and provide us with global expertise and specialist local insight.

These tests formed the key part of our application for HETAS authorisation—the UK’s governing body for emissions and solid fuel safety. We have been working closely with the HETAS team who have provided invaluable expert guidance, ensuring our products directly contribute to a safer environment and reduced carbon emissions.

At Cleaner Products, we continue to set new benchmarks across the UK Hospitality sector, our focus is simple: deliver exceptional product performance, enhance sustainability, and keep costs competitive. 

Our forward plan is to continue to expand into the UK Hospitality sector with Charcoal and Firewood for open cooking and pizza ovens from there It is our intention to launch a new specialist brand to supply the Home Market Sector initially within the M25 and then developing the brand to become a National Supplier of Hardwood logs, Heat Logs, Biofuels and Smokeless Coal.
